PROGRAM NOTE & PREMIERE HISTORY

I have been exploring states of metamorphosis, in particular the development of a kind of re-birth that happens to bring a butterfly into life. This work has been explored through a lens of graphical drawings inspired and informed by algebraic mathematics, in particular frieze patterns and series of patterned numbers and proportions that arise from these. This is earlier work that I had done with mathematicians Karin Baur and Klemens Fellner at the University of Graz.

I then explored these themes with Phil Mollon, in psychoanalytic energetic psychotherapy research, on a level which examines the psychological states and spiritual awareness that arises when one wishes to transcend one’s incarnated form, to metamorphose into a higher dimension of thought or freedom, beyond the perceived plane of embodied existence. It is a work in progress.
